Creating a video interview
Summary: Compile a video interview using Moviemaker (or other video editor).Total Points: 100
- Use your webcam or video recorder to create a video of the five questions you used in Chapter 5. (4 points each question).
- I will create a video file using my answers to your questions from the audio interview and make it available for you to download in Blackboard.
- Use Moviemaker or other video editor and copy and paste my video answers into your video questions file (4 points each answer correctly placed).
- Add a title screen to your video (10 points) and add transitions between each question. (2 points each)
- Upload your video to youTube. (5 points)
- Add your video to our class social network (10 points), add a description (10 points) and a tag labeled “sp16dm7a”. (5 points)
- Have others rate your interview. You will need at least 10 ratings to get these points. (2 points for each star)
- Submit your movie file to Blackboard.

Using the Green Screen
Summary: In this assignment you will take a picture of an action figure against a green background and prepare it for a video. Green screens are often used for indoor shots and blue screens are often used for outdoor shots. Watch the assignment video before you begin.Total Points: 100
Instructions:
- Take a picture of an action figure against a green background (10 points). You can borrow one of your child’s figures, one from your childhood, or pick one up really cheap at Dollar Tree. I just tacked a green piece of construction paper up. Make sure the whole figure is surrounded by green.
- Open the image with GIMP and crop the image like the example. (10 points)
- Scale the image width to 640 pixels. Keep the aspect ratio and do not stretch the image. (10 points)
- Scale to a resolution of 72. (10 points)
- Save the image in the PNG format. (5 points)
- Use GIMP to remove the green by using the Fuzzy Select tool and the Eraser tool see assignment rubric for how these points are awarded. (20 points)
- Set the threshold around 35 after selecting the Fuzzy Select tool and delete the selection.
- Use the eraser tool to clean up the image (see example).
- Save the image under a new name as a PNG file. (5 points)
- Add your image to our class social network (10 points), add a description (5 points) and a tag labeled “sp17dm7b”. (5 points)
- Have others rate your interview. You will need at least 10 ratings to get these points. (2 points for each star)
- Submit your original green screen image and the clean photo to Blackboard.
